“To every first responder in Southwest Florida โ thank you for the calls you take, the danger you face, and the lives you save.”
National First Responders Day
Need restoration help in Southwest Florida right now? WrightWay dispatches in 60 to 90 minutes from three Florida offices, and we answer with a live human.
October 28 is National First Responders Day. It’s a day for the people who are usually too busy responding to be celebrated.
The firefighters who go into burning buildings. The police officers who walk into situations none of us would. The EMTs and paramedics who hold a stranger’s hand on the way to the hospital. The 911 dispatchers who keep callers calm while running three radios and a keyboard at once. The lifeguards, the ocean rescue teams, the SAR pilots, the wildfire crews, the disaster medical teams. The volunteer fire and EMS departments that staff most of rural Florida.
You don’t get a thank-you on most days. So we want to say it clearly today: thank you.
Why this day matters to WrightWay
WrightWay Emergency Services is, at its core, a restoration company. We’re not first responders the way an EMS team is. But our identity โ the 24/7 emergency line, the sub-2-hour response time, the willingness to drop a Sunday dinner to grab gear and go โ comes directly from the example first responders set every day in this country.
When a homeowner calls us at 2 AM because water is pouring through a ceiling, we move because the fire department has been moving on calls like that for over 200 years. The standard isn’t ours. We just try to live up to it.
The Southwest Florida first-responder community
This region is served by an enormous, often-underappreciated network of first responders:
- Fire/Rescue โ Sarasota County Fire, Manatee County Fire, Charlotte County Fire/EMS, Lee County EMS, Cape Coral Fire, Naples Fire, North Port Fire, plus dozens of city departments
- Law Enforcement โ Sarasota County Sheriff, Manatee County Sheriff, Charlotte County Sheriff, Lee County Sheriff, Collier County Sheriff, plus city police departments and Florida Highway Patrol
- Marine and beach rescue โ U.S. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, county marine units, lifeguards on every public beach
- Emergency management โ county and municipal EM offices that coordinate hurricane response
- 911 dispatchers โ the voices most callers never see, who triage every emergency in the region
- Volunteer organizations โ Red Cross, CERT teams, faith-based response groups
Every single one of them shows up when our community is in trouble. After Debby, Helene, and Milton last year, this community saw what that meant.
To the first responders we’ve worked alongside
If WrightWay has shown up on a scene with you โ at a house fire that needed boarding up, at a flooded home that needed extraction, at a major incident that required restoration support โ thank you for letting us work alongside you. We respect what you do, every time.
To the families of first responders
Being a first responder is hard on the people who love them. The shift work, the missed holidays, the calls that don’t leave you when you go home. To the families of every first responder reading this: you do that work, too. Thank you.
To the first responders of Southwest Florida โ we see you. We thank you. Stay safe out there.
