Ceiling Repair — Drywall, Texture & Stain Match
Ceiling repair, popcorn removal, and texture match after water damage — invisible repairs that match the rest of the room.
What to expect from our Ceiling Repair — Drywall, Texture & Stain Match team
Ceiling Repair in Southwest Florida
Ceiling damage is one of the most common reconstruction scopes after a water event — the upstairs AC fails, the roof leaks, the toilet overflows, the second-floor washer drains where it shouldn’t. Visible damage shows up as a brown stain, then sagging drywall, then bulging or collapsed sections. The repair has to do three things: remove the contaminated drywall, match the existing texture (popcorn, knockdown, orange peel, smooth), and re-paint to invisibility. WrightWay Emergency Services handles ceiling repair across Sarasota, Bradenton, Fort Myers, Naples, and surrounding communities, including the texture and color matching that’s the difference between a repair and an obvious patch.
Texture Types We Match
- Popcorn / acoustic ceiling — common in older SW FL homes; we can match or remove (see below)
- Knockdown texture — the dominant new-construction finish in SW FL; matched with hopper application and proper knockdown timing
- Orange peel — fine-spray texture matched with hopper and tip-size control
- Smooth / Level 5 — luxury finish requiring full skim and sand
- Custom decorative — Venetian plaster, faux finishes, hand-troweled textures
Popcorn Ceiling Removal (Often the Right Call)
If your existing ceiling is popcorn and damage is in a single room, full-room popcorn removal is often a smart upgrade — modernizes the home, matches the rest of the renovation, and avoids the never-quite-right look of a patched popcorn area. Important: popcorn ceilings installed before 1980 may contain asbestos. WrightWay tests before removal and coordinates licensed asbestos abatement when present (see asbestos abatement).
1. Assessment & Source Confirmation
Verify the water source has been corrected. Repairing a ceiling without fixing the source means we’ll be back. Where the source is HVAC or plumbing, we coordinate with your provider.
2. Demo
Saturated and stained drywall removed in clean cuts. Insulation above is checked and replaced if compromised.
3. Drywall Install & Tape
New drywall hung, taped, and skimmed to a smooth substrate.
4. Texture Match
Texture matched to existing using hopper, knockdown, or hand-trowel technique appropriate to the finish.
5. Stain Block & Paint
Stain-blocking primer (such as Kilz Original or B-I-N) prevents tannin or smoke residue from bleeding through. Then full-room or feathered paint match — when paint match is unreliable, we recommend full-room repaint for invisibility.
Insurance
Ceiling damage from a covered water or fire event is typically included in the broader claim. WrightWay is the restoration contractor — we provide Xactimate-formatted documentation showing scope, texture type, and any popcorn-removal recommendation so you and your adjuster can evaluate coverage. We do not handle or negotiate the claim.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common timing, documentation, and service questions answered in a clearer format so owners and managers can make confident decisions faster.
Yes, and this is one of WrightWay’s greatest advantages. We manage the entire process from emergency mitigation through final reconstruction under one company, which eliminates the delays, miscommunication, and finger-pointing that often occur when homeowners hire separate contractors for each phase. Our seamless approach saves time, reduces stress, and ensures consistent quality from start to finish.
Mitigation refers to the immediate emergency actions taken to stop further damage, such as water extraction, board-up, and structural drying. Restoration, or reconstruction, is the process of repairing and rebuilding the property back to its pre-loss condition, including drywall replacement, painting, flooring installation, and cabinetry. WrightWay handles both phases so your property is returned to the way it looked and felt before the damage occurred.
We make every effort to match your existing materials, including flooring, paint colors, cabinetry styles, countertops, and trim profiles. WrightWay’s reconstruction team sources materials from a wide network of suppliers and uses color-matching technology to achieve the closest possible match. When an exact match is not available, we present comparable options and work with you to select a finish you are happy with.
Reconstruction timelines depend on the scope of damage, material availability, and permit requirements. Minor repairs may be completed in one to two weeks, while full-scale reconstruction of heavily damaged properties can take several months. WrightWay provides a detailed project schedule during the planning phase and assigns a dedicated project manager to keep the job on track and keep you informed of progress.
