Manatee County’s $252.7M Home Recovery Program – Pre-Applications Are Open Now

May 8, 2026 2 min read Insurance

Quick update for Manatee County homeowners: if your home was damaged by Hurricane Debby, Helene, or Milton in 2024 and you have not finished repairs, the county’s Home Recovery Program pre-application is open right now and runs through June 30, 2026.

What is the Home Recovery Program?

It’s the largest individual-assistance piece of the $252,711,000 federal CDBG-DR grant that HUD awarded Manatee County after the 2024 hurricanes. Specifically, it’s a $75 million program dedicated to owner-occupied home repair, reconstruction, and elevation.

  • Up to $250,000 for repairs
  • Up to $450,000 for reconstruction or elevation
  • Structured as a 5-year forgivable loan (no payments due if the home stays your primary residence for five years)
  • Income limit: up to 120% of Manatee County Area Median Income
  • The County pays approved contractors directly : homeowners don’t pay out of pocket and seek reimbursement

The deadline matters

Pre-applications close June 30, 2026. Submitting a pre-application within that window is required to advance to the full application. If you miss it, you may not be able to apply for HRP funding under this allocation.

Where to apply

Apply only through the official Manatee County portal at LastingManatee.org. No third party (including WrightWay) can submit your application on your behalf.

If you need help, contact Lasting Manatee directly:

  • Phone: 941-742-4787 (Mon-Fri 8 AM – 4 PM)

Only your insurance adjuster or agent can determine what your specific policy covers. The points here are general suggestions based on our observations in the field, not professional insurance advice. Coverage varies by policy and carrier, and we have seen newer policies deny wind-driven rain claims. Always review your own policy and confirm coverage with your adjuster or agent before making decisions about a claim.
